Course Overview

This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required to work with basic information about the human body and to prepare for and provide medication assistance and complete medication documentation.  It also involves supporting a client to self-administer medication.

This skill set is for people working in various care and support roles in the community services industry who wish to develop skills in supporting people to self-administer medication

Course Duration

This is a six (6) week course including time for negotiated work placement.

Units of Competency

  • HLTAAP001 - Recognise healthy body systems
  • HLTHPS006 - Assist clients with medication

Pre-requisites

To access this training you will be working in a care sector support role or will hold a Certificate III level or high qualification in an area involving provision of direct client care and support.  You will be at least 18 years old.

Entry Requirements

To access funding you must be:

  • no longer at school;
  • Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen;
  • living or working in NSW.

 

Students will need to undertake an LLN quiz prior to enrolment.  This quiz will help us to determine the appropriate level of academic support that will be needed to successfully complete your training and assessment.

Please note proficiency in English is required to meet industry standards to check and interpret client information and dosage instructions. In addition, numeracy skills to calculate and check dosage and confirm expiry dates is also required.

Accreditation & Award

On successful completion of your training and assessment you will be eligible to receive CHCSS00070 Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set.
