Course Overview

A white card (or general construction induction card) is required for workers who want to carry out construction work. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.

Benefits

The real benefit of a White Card is that it teaches workers the basics of construction safety and gives them the knowledge necessary to remain safe and healthy the work site.

 

Learning Outcomes

The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies

The topics covered include:

  • Health and safety legislative requirements for construction work
  • Construction hazards and risk control measures
  • Health and safety communication and reporting processes
  • Incident and emergency response
  • Selection and fitting of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Career Opportunities

  • you’re employed to carry out work on a construction site
  • you enter operational construction zones:
  • o unaccompanied or not directly supervised by an inducted person, or
  • o due to the demands of your employment.
  • • you’ve had a white card but haven’t worked in construction for more than 2 years.

Entry Requirements

To enrol into White Card:

  • Must be over 14 years of age
  • Have 100 points of Identification

Assessment

  • Theory Questions
  • Verbal Questions
  • Practical Assessment (Proper fitting of personal protective equipment)

Accreditation & Award

On successful completion of training and assessment, you will be eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment for CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry and you will be eligible to obtain a General Construction Induction White Card.
