Face-to-Face and Assessment

Course Overview

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to extract and serve espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines and grinders. It requires the ability to advise customers on coffee beverages, select and grind coffee beans, prepare and assess espresso coffee beverages and to use, maintain and clean espresso machines and grinders.

Benefits

In undertaking this course you will learn the benefits of preparing and presenting espresso-based coffee beverages, monitor quality indicators for extraction, present espresso beverages and accompaniments demonstrating consistency and quality and using the correct equipment, ingredients and measurements to prepare espresso coffee beverages.

Pre-requisites

Attend the face-to-face course.

Entry Requirements

Must be 14 years of age and have 100 points of Identification.

The student must prepare:

  • Cappuccino
  • Espresso (short black)
  • Flat White
  • Long Black
  • Piccolo Latte
  • Mocha
  • Ristretto
  • Short and Long Macchiato

Accreditation & Award

To obtain an award for this qualification, you must complete all units, and be marked competent by the trainer.
