Statement of Attainment in Individual Support

Course Overview

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide individual support and determine and respond to an individual’s physical personal support needs and to support activities of daily living. It includes addressing the requirements communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, management and other industry providers.  The training also addresses the skills and knowledge required to work safely with clients in a community care setting.

Learning Outcomes

In this course you will learn how to:

  • Determine personal support requirements and provide support that encourages individual participation
  • Communicate with clients, colleagues and stakeholders in a community care setting
  • Complete workplace documentation and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Follow safe work practices for direct client care including manual handling and infection control

Career Opportunities

  • Students undertaking this course will have enhanced career opportunities for entry level care roles in a residential or community context. These units also provide a pathway to Certificate III Individual Support and other qualifications from the Community Services Training Package.

This course will run face to face, 9 am to 3.30 pm two days per week for four weeks.

  • CHCCCS011 - Meet Personal Support needs
  • HLTWHS002 - Follow Safe Work Practices for Direct Client Care
  • CHCCOM005 - Communicate & Work in Health & Community Services

Entry Requirements

To access funding you must be:

  • Between 16 and 24 years of age
  • no longer at school;
  • Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen;
  • living or working in NSW.

 

Students will need to undertake an LLN quiz prior to enrolment.  This quiz will help us to determine the appropriate level of academic support that will be needed to successfully complete your training and assessment.

 

Please note that you will need reading skills to be able to read and interpret policies, procedures and client documents.

Accreditation & Award

On successful completion of your training and assessment you will be eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment in Individual Support for the units listed above.

Delivery Locations

This course will run face to face, 9 am to 3.30 pm two days per week for four weeks.  This is flexible to the needs of the organization. In addition, students will be required to complete eight hours per week self-paced work and undertake supervised practical experience in a simulated or workplace environment.  This usually takes about 4 weeks, depending on rosters.
