Course Overview

If you are interested in starting a career in the community services sector providing individual support in aged care, home care or disability support, This course will enhance your skills in providing care to patients in their final stages of life by assisting them to optimise their quality of life and wellbeing being at their time of need. Working with older Australian’s to optimise their final time, quality life, positively affect their wellbeing and provide support during their time of need.

Skill Set Information:

 

CHCSS00105 – Support Palliative Approach Individual Support

This course will allow you to learn the foundational knowledge and practical skills required for;

  • Providing palliative care in line with advance care plans
  • Providing grief and loss support to clients and family members

 

CHCSS00114 – Entry into Care Role

During this Skill Set you will learn the knowledge and skills that will allow you to;

  • Provide entry level support for basic client care
  • Learn how to comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
  • Follow safe work practices when providing client care

 

SG008133 – Work with People with Mental Health Issues, Palliative Approach, Assist with Medication

You will learn the foundation skills and knowledge required allowing you to;

  • Assist clients with their medications in an acute health care setting.
  • Develop an understanding when an individual is moving from curative care to palliative care, as well develop an understanding of palliative care.
  • Learn to establish relationships, clarify needs and work collaboratively with people who are living with mental health issues.

 

SG00008575 – Assist Clients with Medications and Safe Work Practices for Direct Client Care

This course will provide foundation knowledge and practical skills to allow you to:

  • Describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and provide medication assistance, and complete medication documentation.
  • Provides skills an knowledge required to work with basic information about the human body and to recognise and promote ways to maintain healthy functioning of the body.

 

SG00007282 – Individual Support, First Aid, Infection Control and Safe Work Practices for Direct Client Care

This course will provide foundation knowledge and practical skills to allow you to:

  • Follow precautions for prevention and control of infection in the workplace and increase your awareness of responsibility towards identifying infectious hazards.
  • Describe the skills and knowledge required for a worker to participate in safe work practices, to ensure their own health and safety.
  • Determine the clients support needs, provide support to the client, monitor support activities and report and complete documentation.

 

SG0007248 – Palliative Approach, Support People Living with Dementia and Safe Work Practices for Direct Client Care

This course will provide foundation knowledge and practical skills to allow you to:

  • Deliver service for the needs of individuals dealing with life-threatening or or life limiting illness and the emotional impact of diagnosis.
  • Interpret individualised plans and familiarise self with specific needs and wants of people living with dementia, organise activities to maintain independence.
  • Focus on maintaining the safety of the worker, the people being supported and other community and workplace members in both centre-based and home-based environments.

Entry Requirements

To access this training opportunity, you must be over 15 years of age and have left school.

You must be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder.

You also must be living or working in NSW.

If you meet the entry criteria, the course is subsidised (fee free) as this training is covered by the NSW Government.

Delivery Locations

These Skill Sets are delivered in Batemans Bay, at 42 Orient Street.
